Michelle's art practice explores the joy of colour and mark making. Her works are inspired by her love of the Tasmanian/lutruwita landscape, the colours and depth of layers in the rugged mountains, spectacular coastlines, native forests, sweeping bays, picturesque beaches and sparkling lakes. Her paintings are often a memory of a landscape or the feeling of a place and her response to it.
Michelle captures the small miracles, celebrating the 'ordinary', by layering and weaving the elements together to reflect the beauty that can be found in a small snapshot of the natural world. Works are intuitive, colourful and explore mixed mediums and techniques. "I can't tone down the colour even when I try, it's just me!"
